Irvan Bastian Arief

Irvan Bastian Arief is an Indonesian data scientist, academic, and technology executive. He is also known for his work in artificial intelligence and machine learning, including creating the RUP and DA-HOC machine learning algorithms. He currently holds a vice president role at the Indonesian travel technology company tiket.com. He is also part of the Monash University Indonesia Industry Advisory Board for Master of Data Science.

Early life and education

Arief holds a PhD in Computer Science from RMIT University and a Master of Business Information Systems from Monash University. His doctoral research at RMIT focused on developing machine learning algorithms to accurately calculate room occupancy using carbon dioxide data, a project implemented in RMIT's Sustainable Urban Precincts Program.

Career

Arief began his career at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) where he gained experience in high-precision manufacturing environments. He also worked at General Electric (GE) and Tokopedia early in his career.

At tiket.com, Arief has worked on the development of an AI-based itinerary planning tool. His work at the company involves research and machine learning in the travel tech sector.
