Irdeto Content Management
Founded in 2000 by employees of Irdeto in Carlsbad, California, USA, Entriq started as a pay media provider and evolved into a diversified digital media provider from content ingestion through to delivery to a customized player. Today, Entriq is part of Irdeto, a company and a division of MIH Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of media group Naspers Limited (LSE:NPSN; JSE: NPN).
Prior to merging back into Irdeto in 2008, Entriq acquired DayPort [6], a transaction that enabled the company to expand its products to include content management, ad model support, and distribution of digital media over the Internet. Later that year, Irdeto merged Entriq into its portfolio of products known as Content Management, a mix of technology and content management products for content owners, copyright holders, and distributors to manage, protect, monetize, and deliver their digital content to audiences across all digital devices and platforms.
History
Entriq first emerged as a division of MIH (Naspers), the global provider of pay media platforms and services that launched South Africa’s first pay TV service in 1984.[3] The company has been acknowledged for its digital media leadership and expertise[4][5] in content management, workflow, vsyndication, media control, and monetization.
DayPort
On March 10, 2008, Entriq announced its acquisition of DayPort, a provider of video publishing, content, workflow, and syndication solutions and tools that help manage digital video across mobile and online platforms.
DayPort was previously backed by private investors in Mankato, MN, but needed a larger parent with global reach.[7] The precise terms of the deal have not been disclosed but it is rumored to be around US$45 million.[2][8] Entriq has valued the deal between US$10 million - $50 million. Under the terms, DayPort CEO Cory Factor joined Entriq as Chief Technology Officer, along with other DayPort executives who took on senior level roles at the merged company.[9]
