International Federation of Computer Law Associations
International Federation of Computer Law Associations, or IFCLA, federates a large group of national technology law associations creating both new and maintaining existing international relationships among IT law communities all around the world. IFCLA was founded in 1989 to contribute to the advancement of technology law through 3 main missions:
1. to promote general knowledge of the legal matters relating to the information and communications technologies.
2. to form a link between the persons interested in such matters including lawyers and other people who are involved in said legal matters in both private and public sector.
3. to organize biannual international conferences on these topics.
IFCLA Conferences
IFCLA organises a biannual international conference on IT law and the latest developments in that area. In the year 2010 IFCLA is organizing its 12th international conference in Helsinki, Finland on 10â11 June 2010 for the first time in IFCLA's history and it is expected to be the most significant technology law event ever held in Finland. The main theme of the conference under the slogan "Convergence here and now" will reflect the Finnish success stories in the technology sector including topical legal matters relating to e.g. convergence and wireless technology. The theme of the conference is IT outsourcing and software contracting. The last 6 conferences have been held in Paris (2008), Amsterdam (2006), Oxford (2004), Berlin (2002), Paris (2000) and Oslo (1998). Each of these past conferences has attracted 200-300 attendees from all around the world the main part coming from Europe and US.
