Ineedtodiscover (band)
ineedtodiscover was a two-piece band from Ruskington and Sleaford in Lincolnshire. The band was formed by Colin Barstow in June 2007 and Karina Lawrence, who joined a month later. stepped in, both members had previously played in the band imybike which had disbanded earlier that year.
The band signed to Square Peg Round Hole Records in August 2007 having only formed 1 month earlier and began extensive dates round the UK supporting bands such as Late of the pier , Bono must die, Hadouken, Crystal Castles, Bloc Party XX Teens and The Whip.
The bands only single "mixandmatch" was released in December 2007 attracting the attention of Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq who first of all gave the band the title of 'website of the week' to be followed the week after by 'band of the week'. Steve Lamacq also interviewed Barstow on his show.
Despite the bands growing popularity and the video for "mixandmatch" having regular showings on MTV2 ineedtodiscover announced their split in March 2008 Due to unknown reasons.
Barstow has since returned to his former re-formed band imybike minus Lawrence.
Themes and Style
The band were often quoted on their refusal to use a capital letter at the beginning of their name and song titles, BBC 6 Music DJ Tom Robinson described ineedtodiscover as "The band yet to learn how to use the space bar" as most of the band's tracks were known as one long continuous word.
ineedtodiscover were a serious band in the respect of their music but as people they were very characteristic and charismatic. They Joked AbOUT a lot of things on stage and off stage.
