Indonesian Fashion & Batik Festival
Indonesian Fashion & Batik Festival or IFBF is a fashion multi-event with international scale which is annually organized in Indonesia and also overseas, showing the variety of the best and innovative creation both from talented Indonesian-based designers and from talented foreign country-based designers, and raising the Indonesian textile diversity, especially batik, as the local wisdom value which becomes one of the characteristics of Indonesian culture.
History
IFBF started from the dream and desire of one Aji Bräm to make the biggest Indonesian fashion event outside Indonesia capable of improve the image and become the pride of Indonesia. Armed with his experiences in pursuing and developing fashion entrepreneurship in Zurich, Switzerland, as well as several experiences in participating and making several fashion shows there, in 2012 Aji Bräm put forward the idea to make a fashion event capable to accommodate and open the gate for Indonesian best fashion products to perform and be acknowledged in Europe, especially Switzerland. Sharing the hope to improve the name of Indonesia, Aji Bräm with his Indonesian friends who lived in Switzerland then tried to realize his idea to make Indonesian Fashion & Batik Festival (IFBF). Aji Bräm, supported by Indonesian Embassy in Bern and several of his friends’ companies thus collaborated to hold the first IFBF, accomplished in September 20, 2013 in Volkshaus, Zurich, Switzerland.
Founder
Aji Bräm was born and finished his primary education in Tulungagung, East Java. Aji Bräm continued his study in majoring Accounting, English and Hotel Management in Malang, Australia, and Switzerland. The next phase, after going through many experiences in working on hospitality in the United States, Britain, and the last as a general manager in a villa in Bali, Indonesia, then Aji Bräm decided to establish the business in fashion, by choosing the company location in Zurich, Switzerland.
Aji Bräm as a fashion designer has developed many products through the name of Lurik Management by creating the label of ‘lurik-batik & fashion by Aji Bräm’ (www.lurik.ch) located in Zurich, Switzerland. Aji Bräm has already held several fashion shows there, either in collaboration with the Embassy of Indonesia for Switzerland located in Bern, Solo fashion show, fashion show for international event, or INDONESIAN FASHION & BATIK FESTIVAL 2013 which involved many Indonesian designers. Aji Bräm is also believed as a stylist and fashion director for the international model of Indonesian batik products at the 2014 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and being one of the three judges for Miss Fashion Switzerland 2014. The company's main domicile is located in Zurich, Switzerland. In addition, Aji Bräm also opened an operating agency in Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia where the actitivies of design and production of all ‘lurik’ collection were done in Cimahi, Bandung, and Jakarta.
For seven years pursuing fashion world, Aji Bräm has made variety of attractive designs and are used by fashion lovers in Indonesia and Europe. In each year, Aji Bräm annually exports uniform for cruise ship employees in Germany, and he has designed uniforms for stewardess of Trigana Air Indonesia and other several companies.
Purposes
- Providing an opportunity to young Indonesian designers to exhibit their talents and succeeded in both national and international fashion through creative and innovative works with cultural identity.
- Improving tourism program, especially in introducing the nation’s cultural potential through fashion utilizing the local genius (Indonesian textiles).
- Stimulating the interest of Swiss people in particular and European in general toward a variety of Indonesian fashion products to ultimately increase Indonesian fashion export to global market and create occupation in Indonesia through fashion industry.
- As a first step in organizing future larger events in coming years with diverse quantity of creative products in the longer term with more impressive event packaging.
- Building the city brandings of Bandung and Zurich as a valuable package and could provide many benefits for the development of creative industries, especially fashion for Indonesia and Switzerland.
- As a fundraising event in which all revenues (total revenue minus the event budget) from the event will be used to finance fashion education and training for underprivileged children with brilliant potentials in Indonesia.
