Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) is an internationally recognised independent ship Classification society, founded in India in 1975. Within a span of 16 years, it has become an associate member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), the major international body of classification societies. Admission in IACS is granted only to the best and signifies high standards, excellent reputation and professional competence.
