Indian Defence Service of Engineers

The Indian DeFence Service of Engineers (IDSE) is an organized Group A engineer cadre of MES. New members are recruited through the Combined Engineering Examination (CEE) conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission. A graduate engineer in civil, electrical and mechanical streams who passes the CEE can join the IDSE.

IDSE Day is celebrated on 17 September every year to commemorate the creation of Class I Gazetted services of Engineers, Surveyors, and Architects in MES in 1949.
