Inanimate Insanity season 2
The second season of the American animated web series Inanimate Insanity, created by Adam Katz, originally aired on YouTube from April 2, 2013, to November 29, 2024. Unlike the first season's lighter tone, the second season adopted a distinctly darker approach, placing heavy emphasis on character development, contestant relationships, and an overarching serialized plot involving the Meeple corporation and antagonist Steve Cobs. The season also incorporates original musical numbers, making it the only season to feature a full musical format. The season went on a four-year hiatus following the release of "Hatching the Plan" in 2020 before resuming with "Truth or Flare" in 2024, with the finale releasing as a theatrical film, Inanimate Insanity II: The Movie.
The season began with 19 contestants — 8 returning from Season 1 and 11 newcomers — divided into two teams: The Bright Lights and The Grand Slams. Suitcase was ultimately crowned the winner of the season.
Cast
The second season expanded the voice cast considerably. Returning Season 1 veterans included Adam Katz (Apple, Nickel, Baseball, Marshmallow), Taylor Grodin (Paintbrush, OJ), Justin Chapman (Knife, Paper), Michael Bruzzone (Lightbulb), and Ben Cross (Balloon). New cast members for Season 2 included Brian Koch (Fan), Adam Katz (Test Tube), Hailey Chapman (Microphone), Austin Nebbia (Suitcase), Niall Burns (Cheesy), Dee Cashin (Cherries), Marco Bonomo (Yin-Yang), Braden Whiteside (Tissues), Kacie Chapman (Soap), and Stephen Boyer (Trophy). Box was non-speaking for the majority of the season.
Production
The second season represented a significant creative evolution for the series, with animation shifting from Anime Studio to Adobe Animate. Original music was commissioned beginning with "Everything's A-OJ", with composers Logan Nelson and Katya Richardson providing the soundtrack from "Mazed and Confused" onward. A Kickstarter campaign was launched after "Rain On Your Charade" to fund continued production. The season's production spanned over a decade, making it one of the longest-running animated web series seasons in YouTube history.
