Ice Minds
Ice Minds An English rock band, ACTIVE since the late '70s till the early '90s.
Biography
The band started in London in 1974 by five University of London students. The first lineup was:
- Paul Smith - Vocals, guitar.
- Nestor Ivanov - Guitar, writer of all of the songs of the band.
- Kevin O'Malley - Synthesizers, Piano.
- Thomas Powell - Bass Guitar.
- Alan Carter - Drums.
Originally, Smith only played the guitar while Ivanov was the singer, nevertheless, due to the fact that Nestor Ivanov had a heacy Russian accent (his parents were both Russians natives of Leningrad), it was decided that smith will be the singer.
The band created a unique sound, which was a mixture between Alternative rock, Progressive rock, Hard rock and Electronic music. In 1976 the band were signed by EMI and released their first album Blue Lemon. The album reached #5 at the UK album chart, and the single from the album Bullets, reached #2 in the UK single chart.
In 1979 the band released their second album, Shade which reacged #2 in the UK album chart, and had 2 singles released, Shade, which reached #7 in the UK single chart, and Under the ground, which reached #14 in the UK single chart.
In 1980 the band split, after Smith and Powell left the band.
In 1986 the band decided to return, with a new lineup:
- David Dallaglio - Vocals, guitar.
- Nestor Ivanov - Guitar, writer of all of the songs of the band.
- Kevin O'Malley - Synthesizers, Piano.
- Martin Peters - Bass Guitar.
- Alan Carter - Drums.
In 1987 the band independently released a New album, Start again. The album had no singles released from, and sold poorly.
In 1993 the band made a final attempt to return to popularity, releasing the album So far away. The album was a mixture between Alternative rock and Electronic music. The album was released indepemdently, due to the fact no record lable risked to release it. The album failed in the stores and no radio stations played songs from it, and the band split.

- Nestor Ivanov moved to Russia in 1995 and started working as a Geography teacher.
- Since 1980 the band haven't performed live.
