Hugh Scrutton

Hugh Campbell Scrutton (September 13, 1947 – December 11, 1985) was the first fatal victim of the Unabomber.

Scrutton owned the RenTech computer rental store in Sacremento, CA. On December 11, 1985, Scrutton picked up a piece of what appeared to be litter in the parking lot of the store. It was a pipe bomb concealed in a wooden box. He was killed instantly.
