Hibiscus House Gambia
Hibiscus House is a hotel project in Brufut, The Gambia.
The Hibiscus House project commenced in 2001, when Susan Clifford-Webb, first thought up plans for a unique boutique hotel site within the surroundings of an African Village. With the aid of the local community and a lot of manual hard work the project started construction in 2002. All the work undertaken was by the local West African community and after 4 years the project was practically complete.
The project consists of a variety of buildings, constructed mainly of one or two storeys, that surround a pool and beautiful tropical gardens. The property is still owned by Susan and now runs as a small private hotel in the Gambia.
Future projects are being set up to help with the local community and local schools. And Hibiscus House recently sponsored A Tour of 16 African Countries by two English people who were working for the Sindisa Foundation, in Southern Africa.
