Henry Margusity
Henry was born in Glenside, PA, on October 18, 1960. The weather on his date of birth was a typically nice Indian Summer day with sunshine and temperatures around 70. However, a few days later a powerful cold front brought severe thunderstorms to Glenside, PA - A foreshadowing of Henry's later interest in severe weather.
Henry graduated from Octorara High School in 1979. Prior to graduation and pondering his future, it was his sister Nina who, based on his love of weather, suggested he become a meteorologist. He took this advice and enrolled at the Pennsylvania State University in the meteorology program.
While at Penn State, Henry was ACTIVE in the Penn State Campus Weather Service and participated in the National Forecast Contest. He graduated with a B.S. in meteorology.
Prior to graduating college, Henry joined AccuWeather, Inc. on his 23rd birthday in 1983 as a technician. Because of his extensive skills in meteorology and success in forecasting, he steadily moved through the ranks to his present position as Expert Senior Meteorologist. Prior to this, he served as the manager of the transportation services, project manager, sales technical manager, and international technical manager.
Henry married his wife, Linda in 1988. They have three sons, Eric, Kyle and Tyler, who join Henry in chasing severe weather across central Pennsylvania.
Outside AccuWeather, Henry enjoys chasing storms and is known as the only Professional Storm Chaser in central Pennsylvania. His storm-spotting reports have often given AccuWeather meteorologists advance notification of severe storms in central Pennsylvania.
Henry also enjoys computer programming and has combined this skill with his meteorology expertise to develop the innovative software packages StormTracker™ and HurricaneTracker™.
Along with his passion for chasing storms, Henry flies RC Model Planes and during the winter, spends much of his time skiing.
