Hebridean challenge

The Hebridean challenge is a race that test endurance of teams of competitors. The 2009 race will take part over 6 days between the 4 and 10 July.

Each day brings new challenges to the competitors, the teams have to traverse the land by a combination of hill running, mountain biking, road biking, kayaking and swimming.

The race is often referred to as the Heb for short and is unlike some adventure races in that it stops every night for food at one of the community centres along the route.

The only real restraint on anyone taking part in the race is that of the kayaker who should be trained to British Canoe Union 3* standard (Sea).

Team Format

The teams for the Hebridean challenge are made up of 5 competitors, and there is also the pairs challenge with the route altered to better suit 2 competitors.

There is also the Hebridean adventure which is of 4 people and excludes the kayaking but follows basically the same route as "the heb" and the pairs challenge which excludes the kayaking and the swimming.

Teams often consist of 2 or 3 friends that will then advertise for the final members of their team.
