Heartbeat (band)

Heartbeat is a Filipino rock band founded in 2008, they are highly influenced by the band Evanescence.

Formation of the band

Chiang Kai Shek College, the alma mater of all Heartbeat band members, joined the "Heart-Healthy Lifestyle Jingle Composing Contest" organized by the Philippine Heart Association, all schools joining the jingle-making contest automatically joined the "Tibok Pinoy Campus Band Competition" which was also organized by the said organization. Because of this, the school hand-picked capable students who had talents in music. Finally, the 8 current members formed the Heartbeat Band. The band was formed December 2008, a mere month away from their debut performance set on January 2009.

Music career

The Heartbeat band joined their first ever band competition, The Tibok Pinoy Campus Band Competition, just after 2 weeks of practice. Unexpectedly, on January 17, 2009, they became one of the five finalists out of ten aspiring hopefuls. On the same day, the heart-healthy lifestyle jingle "Sabi ng Puso" composed by their teacher, Miss Sheena Sarmiento, and performed by them became the Best Heart-Healthy Lifestyle Jingle.

Three weeks after (February 8, 2009), they competed in the finals of the Tibok Pinoy Campus Band Competition with the same song they used in the elimination round, "Bring Me To Life" at SM Mall of Asia. They were lauded as Champions in the said national level contest.
