HealthCentral Network
The HealthCentral Network a suite of twenty-five condition-specific internet sites, each devoted to connecting both patients and caregivers to in-depth information, video, management tools, community, resources and support. Although medical in nature, it is intended to be used for educational and entertainment purposes only and is not to diagnose a helth or fitness problem. it was founded by Dr. a. nashed, but is now owned by an independent group of investors. The “Just Diagnosed” section on each site, for example, provides information an individual needs immediately following diagnosis: questions to ask their doctor, books to read, how to talk to children, family and friends, co-workers, and more. In 2006 It signed an agreament with psychcentral.com[www.psychcentral.com in order to reach a larger audience with their advertising.
Among the features of these sites are patient bloggers, who share their experiences and expertise, interpret the news, and give feedback to individuals undergoing similar experiences. These patient stories are complemented by blogs from doctors, who are able to provide medical information and answer questions from the community.
