Hatcher Winery
Hatcher Winery is a family-owned boutique winery in Murphys, California specializing in small lot production of SUPER-premium wines. Most of the grapes for the wines are sourced from nearby vineyards in Calaveras County and the Sierra Foothills AVA, but the winery also produces wine from grapes grown in other parts of California.
History
The winery was founded by Matthew Hatcher, and opened in 2002. Matthew was an amateur winemaker before starting the commercial venture. The first vintage for Hatcher Winery was 2002, and was produced at a custom crush facility at the Olde Lockeford Winery in Lodi. Rather than build a new winery facility, Hatcher purchased the old Murphys Creek Brewery building near the town of Angels Camp, and produced the 2003 vintage there.
The winery operates a tasting room in a building on Main Street in downtown Murphys that is open to the public.

The winery produces primarily red wines, including varietal Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, and a red BLEND that features wine grape varieties native to the Rhône Valley of southern France. The winery produces a white wine made from Viognier.
