Hartley R. Rogers
Hartley Rogers is an American billionaire private equity investor who is the chairman and major shareholder of Hamilton Lane, a global alternative investment management firm. Rogers is the son of mathematician Hartley Rogers Jr. (1926–2015).
Early life and education
Rogers graduated from the Phillips Exeter Academy and obtained a bachelor’s degree in geology magna [...] laude from Harvard and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
Career
Prior to joining Hamilton Lane, Rogers began his career with Morgan Stanley, the Private Equity Division of Credit Suisse First Boston, and DLJ Merchant Banking Partners.
In 2003, Rogers headed an investor group that included Cascade Investment, L.L.C., the investment arm of Bill Gates that purchased approximately 40% of Hamilton Lane. As part of the sale and restructuring, Rogers was named Chairman of Hamilton Lane in 2005.
In 2017, Rogers helped Hamilton Lane close its initial public offering (IPO) of more than 13 million shares at $16 per share. In 2020, Rogers oversaw the filing for a related SPAC IPO.
Personal life
In October 1999, he married Amy Falls and they have three daughters together. The Rogers family owns an organic farm known as Triple Chick Farm located in Town Hill, Maine.
Rogers and his wife have contributed to educational causes including more than 20 million dollars to Harvard University.
