Hammer Bros. (band)

Hammer Bros. is a Massachusetts hardcore punk band, formed in 2003 by vocalist Jim "Jim Death" Domenici and guitarist Matthew "Anderson" Alexander, with other original members Ian Sutton (drums) and Christian Russo (bass).

History

The original members of Hammer Bros. played together previously in a band called Hold This Moment. Unhappy with their sound and direction, they began writing new material under the name Hammer Bros. After recording a two song demo, Hammer Bros. played their first show in Salem, Ma in late 2003. Under the original lineup, the band released a self-titled 7" inch EP on IamEye records. Later, Russo and Sutton would leave the band in 2004, and be replaced by Sean "Awesome Sean" McNeil and Chris Cox of the band Good To Go, respectively. Second guitarist Carl Proia was added, and the band released another 7" EP Hammer Bros. II on FNS Records. Proia left to be replaced by Josh Hines, formerly of [...] Test. In 2006, the band released The Vitality on Crosscheck Records, featuring re-recorded old songs as well as new originals, and a cover of the Cro-Mags' Don't Tread On Me. Shortly following, Chris Cox would leave the band to be temporarily replaced by Justin Paling, formerly of Have Heart, and Christian Russo would be replaced by Gisel Montero. Steve Langone would come to play drums after Paling's departure. In the midst of writing a follow up to The Vitality, founding guitarist and songwriter Matthew Alexander left the band in January of 2007. Guitarist Ryan Basile took over the position. Hammer Bros. currently has a new EP entitled The Kids Are Dead in the finishing stages with a tentative late summer/fall release.
