Company history

GxP Systems was founded as Lecan Technologies in 1997 by John Wall. It was a Professional Services company that worked with manufacturing firms in Ireland. Initially the company was a Systems Integrator delivering small engineering projects to the manufacturing industry (Food, Pharmaceutical & Electronics). The Company’s consulting and systems integration services helped these firms to improve the performance of their manufacturing processes and achieve compliance with regulatory standards. The company grew rapidly from 2 to 25 employees by 1999.

In 2001 (at this stage employing 40 people) a unique skill set placed the Company in a strong position to respond to growing opportunities in Life Sciences, in particular to a Code of Federal Regulations called 21CFR Part 11. Through 2001 and early 2002, the Company developed their flagship Enterprise Software, GxP Enterprise. The software provided a unique and innovative framework for Complete Compliance. Users could achieve Good Practice by automating and integrating their production processes to deliver Best Practice in compliance with the regulations.

In tandem the Company’s Professional Services division helped Life Science firms bring their existing computer systems to Complete Compliance with the relevant codes of US Federal Regulations.

During 2003 the company ceased to serve the Food & Electronics industry and focused entirely on the Life Science companies particularly on 21CFR11 issues. The newly named GxP Systems successfully sold their software to a number of Irish based Life Science multinationals. In 2005/6, GxP Systems broadened its professional services offering to include process, equipment and facilities validation services and process improvement capabilities. In addition the company invested in the development of hosted systems to assist in project execution and statistics-based performance improvement.

Recently, however, with the growth of automation services, GxP Systems have expanded their interests into other industries including Oil & Gas and Semiconductor industries due to the opportunities which are arising in those fields. In 2008, GxP signed a Global Partnership agreement with ABB who are global leaders in the automation industry.
