Guy Junker
Guy Junker is a Sports Anchor and current co-host of The Junker and Crow Show with Eddy Crow that can be heard weekdays on ESPN Radio 1250.
Guy Junker has been part of the Pittsburgh sports media since he started broadcasting high school football games in Uniontown in 1978 for $10 a game. Since then his resume includes stops at WTZN-FM, the Usps (so don't get him angry), WDVE, WTAE-TV, Ben and Norma's Bar, SNN, Kmart, Fox_Sports_Net, Guido's Pizza, and a summer lifeguarding at the Jersey Shore.
Biography
A graduate of Baldwin High School and Penn State University, Guy's biggest sports hero growing up was Bill Mazeroski. In fact Guy once shoved 22 pieces of gum in his mouth at one time so his jaw would stick out like Maz's. He switched to tobacco after his first communion.
This former Three Rivers Stadium vendor was standing over the sterno from his hot dog case trying to keep warm (good training for a career in broadcasting) as he watched Franco Harris and the Immaculate Reception unfold. Talk AbOUT relish.
Junker is a big fan of the book "Out of this Furnace," and the "Field of Dreams" movie. His favorite Web site is none other than ESPN.com. Among his favorite places to eat is the Monterey Bay restaurant and for kicking back, the Little Brown Jug. In his leisure time, Junker coaches little league baseball and amateur Penguins hockey, not to mention, plays in an over-30 baseball league.
Junker resides in Pittsburgh where his wife Darla, daughters Emilee, 12, and Natalee, 8, along with his son Dylan, 11 tolerate him.
Awards
Although he can't explain it, somehow he has managed to win 5 Emmy awards for his work on the Penn State Football Story. He credits heavy alcohol consumption by the panel during the awards dinner.
