Guy Blandford (born New Plymouth, New Zealand 1974) is a British-based Starship captain, commentator on society and volunteer ticket collector on a steam railway.
Born in New Plymouth, New Zealand in 1974, Guy and family later moved to Wainuiomata and lived there until 1980 when they moved to Duncraig, Perth, Australia. In 1984, Blandford would move to Norfolk, England and he would live there until 1998, when after a period at King's Lynn College and a spell at Norwich City College, he took a job as a network administrator at the Met Office, in Bracknell, Berkshire - later relocating to Exeter, Devon.
Starfleet International
Guy is well known for his connections to STARFLEET International, where he served as Commander aboard the ISS Saratoga NX-20, documenting much of life 'aboard' the ship, including writing articles for SFX Magazine. In January 2007, he was promoted to Beta Shift Commanding Officer.
ISS Saratoga NX-20
This incarnation of the Saratoga was launched as a shuttle in April 2005. Under the Command of Marie Wilson, the Saratoga is based in Stevenage, and covers the surrounding areas of Hertfordshire. Officially commissioned in November 2005 the ship now serves as the Region 20 Flagship.
Hobbies
He is also a volunteer ticket collector for the South Devon Railway. In 2008, Blandford will be promoted to guard. It is unclear at this time if this position will affect his role with the Met Office.
