GSODA Junior Players

The GSODA Junior Players are a non-professional theatre company based in [[Geelong]], Australia. It is renowned for being the country's premier youth theatre company and in 2005 the company celebrated 40th Year Anniversary. The GSODA Junior Players are part of the '''GSODA Inc.'''

== History ==
Founded in 1965 by Dorothy Squire and the Late Noeline Jennings, the Junior's first show was '[[Little Red Riding Hood]]' at the GAMA Theatre. The company grew from strength to strength in the late 1960s and at one point had no less than 85 members. The company moved on to perform at the Plaza Theatre in the 1970s and in 1981 performed their first production at the world class venue, [[Geelong Performing Arts Centre]]. The company has grew in size and stature in recent years and has a very strict and difficult audition process to gain a place in the company. Today the company consists of no more than sixty-four children and performs two musicals to local audiences each year.

Throughout over forty years of providing musical theatre to the public of Geelong they have performed many musicals which include: [[The Wizard of Oz (adaptations)|The Wizard of Oz]], [[Alice In Wonderland]], [[Aladdin]], [[Peter Pan]], [[Sinbad the Sailor]], [[The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe]], [[Sleeping Beauty]], [[Cinderella]], [[High School Musical]] and [[The Three Musketeers]].

Most recently the company has stage sell-out seasons of High School Musical and Peter Pan.

The company is currently in rehearsal for their new production of [[Aladdin]]. The show will be staged at the [[Geelong Performing Arts Centre]] in June 2009. The show is under the direction of Sadat-Jon Hussain.
