Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association

Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association (GDSFA) is a Football Association based in Granville, NSW, Australia. It includes 29 clubs. The Granville and Districts Soccer Football Association is recognised as the oldest football association in the Southern Hemisphere.

History

In 1902, the Granville Football Association was formed, incorporating a number of 'clubs' that were typically a single team representing a local company. The Association adopted the black and white colours and magpie emblem of its founding club- this continues today. In the early days of the Association's existence, its BOUNDARIES encompassed some 35% of the current Sydney metropolitan region, stretching from Gladesville in the east through to the Nepean River in the west - reflecting the sparse population distribution at that time. As the Sydney metropolitan area has progressively expanded (particularly in the late 1950's), new Associations were formed by NSW Amateur Soccer Federation (NSWASF) to cater for the needs of their local areas.
