Government Safar Ali College
Government Safar Ali College, nearest to the capital city of Dhaka, was established in Araihazar, Narayangonj in 1973 and nationalized in 1992. Engineer Alhaz Safar Ali Miah, a philanthropist and the then Member of the Parliament, first founded this college on 4.87 acre of land with a view to accelerating higher education. This is the only one government college in this region. Govt. Safar Ali College is now a degree level honours teaching college affiliated to the National University since 2012. The college runs with intermediate, degree (pass) and degree (Hon’s) in Bangla, Social Work and Political Science and others added later. There are 40 faculty members and more than 3000 students in this college. The college campus surrounded by boundary wall is very beautiful with a gate on the North and a flower garden in the centre. The three-storied two buildings with two big ponds inside the boundary wall have made the college campus lively and attractive to all. There are other three buildings used for Office, Staff Council and Hall Room. The tree plantations in the campus and sitting arrangements focusing the garden and besides the ponds have made the institution unique and excellent one for natural beauty. Since its inception, the academic performance of the college and results are also very satisfactory. As it located nearest to the metropolitan city of Dhaka, the competition for admission to this college is a little bit more. Besides, the college is equipped with library, science lab, computer lab, canteen, mosque, students’ common room, girls’ common room, boys’ scout, Red Crescent, BNCC, Shaheed Minar, Victory memoirs, students’ union room, co-curricular events with cultural activities.
