Gourmet Society
The Gourmet Society is a UK based organisation that was created in 2003. It has the simple aim of increasing the number of people who eat out in restaurants.'''
Since its conception The Gourmet Society has grown at a rapid rate and now has over 15,000 members plus hundreds of restaurants. Gourmet Society members join so as to receive 2 for 1 in the partner restaurants. The partner restaurants that participate include the restaurant chain Wagamama. The Gourmet Society is the leading restaurant promotion in the areas of the UK where it operates - the Midlands, including, Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and the North East including Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland.
The Gourmet Society took off and began to attract wide interest when Petit Blanc in Birmingham became a partner restaurant. Since then the Gourmet Society has been growing at a rate of over 100% year on year in terms of restaurants and has been heavily featured in local media. The Duke and Duchess of Rutland (David Manners, 11th Duke of Rutland) have begun writing the annual foreword to the directory The Gourmet Society publishes each year. A number of local celebrities including BBC Radio presenters have become members and keen advocates.
