Goran Zorić
Goran Zorić (born 12 January 1987 in Croatia) is an Serbian Australian Football (soccer) striker who last played for South Melbourne FC in the Victorian Premier League before joining recently promoted Thai Premier League club Police United F.C..
Club career
Starting in the junior ranks of Berwick Kings "Krajina" in South East Melbourne who had been competing in the Victoria Provisional Leagues. Here he developed himself into a quick winger with aggressive dribbling who would regularly find himself in goalscoring opportunities.
Springvale White Eagles
In 2007 Springvale White Eagles were promoted to the Victorian Premier League and signed Goran from Berwick Kings as a promising Winger. He made is debut coming off the bench in their 1-0 Round 1 loss to Altona Magic and scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw against Kingston City, followed by a double in their 3-1 win against Western Suburbs the following game. He also capitained the team in their 2-1 loss against Sunshine Georgies, 4-0 loss against Fawkner Blues, 5-2 loss against Melbourne Knights. Overall he was considered the only positive aspect to come out of a lackluster Springvale White Eagles campain. At 19 years of age and with solid performances throughout the season, a number of Victorian Premier League clubs were after his services, most notably South Melbourne FC. He finished the season with 25 appearances and 4 goals while missing a game due to a suspension.
South Melbourne FC
In 2008 he signed for South Melbourne FC "Hellas" after making a name for himself the previous season and was given number 12. He made his debut appearance as in the starting 11 squad and scored his first goal for South Melbourne in their 2-1 Round 1 defeat to Heidelberg United. He scored his second goal of the season in their 3-1 win against Oakleigh Cannons. In his first season at South Melbourne FC he had made 26 appearances scoring 2 goals.
In 2009 he re-signed with South Melbourne FC and switched to the number 19. In Round 3 he scored a personal best (in the Victorian Premier League) of 4 goals in their 7-1 win over rivals Preston Lions. He scored in Round 5 in their 3-1 win over Whittlesea Zebras and the following game in their 3-0 win against Richmond SC. He then scored a goal a piece in their 2-2 draw in Round 12 against eventual champions Dandenong Thunder and 6-2 win over Preston Lions in Round 14 over. Goran scored a double in their 4-0 win over Whittlesea Zebras in Round 16. He finished of a stellar season with 10 goals and 22 appearances to his name while mainly playing in on the wing and as a supporting striker at times. This season did not go unnoticed with a number of domestic and international teams tracking him over the summer period.
Police United F.C.
Over the summer break he was invited to trial with Chonburi FC and Police United F.C. in the Thai Premier League and was offered a contract by Police United F.C. for the 2010 season.
