Global Institutes

Global Institutes consist of Global Institute of Management and Emerging Technologies (GIMET) and Global Institute of Management (GIM) an engineering and management institute located in Amritsar, Punjab, India, on the Amritsar-Batala-Gurdaspur-Jammu & Kashmir Highway (NH15). They offer engineering and management studies at the bachelors and masters levels. It is affiliated with Punjab Technical University. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Global Institute of Management and Emerging Technologies came into existence in the year 2008. At the time of inception four B.Tech. programmes in the areas of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology were introduced. Subsequently, MBA, MCA and M.Tech. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering were added. Global Institute of Management

Global Institute of Management came into existence in the year 2008. At the time of inception an MBA programme in the areas of Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management with intake of 60 was introduced. Subsequently, intake was increased to 120. Location

The Institute is situated within Global Technical Campus, Amritsar, and is located on Amritsar-Batala-Gurdaspur-Jammu & Kashmir Highway (NH15).

Campus

The campus extends over of lush green, pollution free academic environment. The campus is divided into zones for hostels, Main College Buildings, Administration Block, Residential Complex for staff and faculty and a cafeteria. The college has tutorial rooms, drawing halls, library, computer centre, reading rooms, workshops and laboratories. The Institute has playgrounds, badminton courts, basketball courts, gymnasium, a students centre and facilities like hostels, transport, medical care centre. Hostel facilities for men and women are available in the campus.

Library

The library is aesthetically designed with over 22 000 books and a large number of magazines, National and International journals and Newspapers. It also offers access to a wide range og e-books and e-journals.

Housing

Students have access to ultra modern separate hostels for boys and girls with spacious air cooled rooms, attached bathrooms fitted with water heaters and other facilities such as Table Tennis, Carrom, LCD TV, Water Purifiers, Laundry, 24 hours power backup, Wi-Fi internet Connectivity (16 Mbit/s) and more.

Department Of Training and Placements

The Training and Placement Department is staffed with full-time placement professionals. It offers students an employment placement service. Every avenue is pursued to assist students in obtaining employment.

Udaan

Udaan is a national level annual cultural and technical symposium organized by students of Global Institutes. Considered to be one of the biggest college festivals of North India, it attracts many students from colleges across North India. Events include quizzes, workshops, game shows, informal events, fashion show, dance show and star night etc.

Student activities

Students sharpen their skills, develop leadership qualities and gain hands-on experience to work in teams through weekly activities. The objective is to bring all the students into closer union so as to promote an understanding of their profession and to develop their professional skills. The institutes have student’s managed clubs that provide a platform to showcase student talent to organize a plethora of events for their all-round development.

Hiking & Trekking Club: Meaningful trips are organised to excite, inspire, fascinate and involve students for fun and adventure. Expeditions are designed to provide a safe-and-sound wilderness experience that balance challenging adventure and exploration with fun. These trips are aimed at boosting students’ self-confidence and self belief.

Eco-Club works tirelessly to add up its contribution to improve the challenging environmental conditions. The coordinators and club members undertake environmental friendly activities like tree plantation, campaigns against noise and air pollution and the awareness campaigns in the society like “No plastic for me”, “Say no to crackers”, and the most important one, the “Cleanliness Drive”.

Global Sparks Youth Club (GSYC) is a wing of Global Institutes where the objective of developing and promoting views and thoughts is undertaken. The club has consistently been organizing debate competitions, JAMs, extempore etc. to incorporate the intellectual and creative traditions among the students. The budding orators hone their skills and develop confidence. The club organizes events where all newfangled thoughts are flocked together, where wars are waged not by swords but by thoughts. As the saying goes, "Colors fade, temples crumble, empires fall but wise words will endure"

Literary Club presents students a platform to give a vent to their thoughts and make their imagination run wild. The club has an aim of providing students exposure and churn out students who are self-assured and bold enough to face obstacles and challenges with a positive frame of mind.

Fine Arts Club provides ample opportunities to develop talents in different forms of art. In addition to the activities of the Fine Arts Association, like Rangoli, Mehandi & Card- making etc., students take part in competitions held outside the campus. Inter-college competitions are held on campus and these help in increasing understanding and co-operation. Business

Management Club provides an outlet for students who have an interest in business to enrich their collegiate experience. The Management Club provides a forum for management related discussions that encourage students to explore their interests and passions.

Music and Dramatics Club’s main motive is to add zing and some spice to the college life. Music and Dramatics Club of Global Institutes provides a platform for the students to demonstrate and enhance their skills in fields of music like singing, instrument playing, composing and dances etc. Dramatics like skits, choreography, mimicry and plays etc. provides students an opportunity to enhance their event-organizing skills and encourages a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

Yoga Club: The aim of this club is to disseminate the knowledge imparted by Indian saints and sages thousands of years ago to the present youth so as to keep their body, mind and soul in harmony.

Sports

The institute has indoor and outdoor sports facilities including athletics, badminton, football, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, cricket, hockey etc. Students participate in Sports with great enthusiasm. A new gymnasium has come up in the institute with most modern equipment so that students can work out in the evening and gain freshness.

Every year, Global Institutes organize two-day Sports Meet in the campus athletics track. Students participate in the events with full enthusiasm.

Admissions to Bachelor of Technology courses are made through the

• Punjab Technical University (85% of seats for students belongs to Punjab through PTU Central Counseling based on AIEEE Score) conducted by All India Engineering Entrance Examination.
• 15% of the seats are reserved for the students of other states to be admitted through All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).

Admissions to MBA and MCA courses are made through the

• Punjab Technical University (85% of seats for students belongs to Punjab through PTU Central Counseling based on PMET Score) conducted by PTU.
• 15% of the seats are reserved for the students of other states.
