Global Data Risk (GDR) is an American independent investigative consulting firm specializing in risk management, cybersecurity investigations, eDiscovery, expert witness testimony, sanctions advisory, and geopolitical risk analysis. The company is headquartered in New York City, United States.

History

Global Data Risk was founded in 2022 in New York City by Erik Laykin. Prior to founding the firm, Laykin was Managing Director and founding practice chair of the Cyber Investigations, eDiscovery, and Computer Forensics practices at Kroll / Duff & Phelps from 2008 to 2022, and previously served as Director of Information Technology Investigations at Navigant Consulting.

In November 2022, GDR acquired Sanctions Strategy Inc. (SSI), an independent consultancy focused on resolving matters related to U.S., U.K., and E.U. government sanctions affecting individuals, banks, and corporations.

In January 2024, GDR began a joint initiative with Epiq to provide eDiscovery and investigative management services.

In 2024, Brian Ebert, a former United States Secret Service Chief of Staff and Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Office, joined the firm.
