Global Academy of Forensic and Investigative Medicine and Science

Global Academy of Forensic and Investigative Medicine and Science (GLAFIMS) is an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to advancing professional development, research, education, and collaboration in the fields of forensic medicine, investigative medicine, forensic science, law, toxicology, criminology, and allied health sciences. The organisation facilitates academic interaction, professional networking, scientific dissemination, and training opportunities for practitioners, researchers, and students worldwide.

History

GLAFIMS was established on 31 December 2021 at its foundation meeting. The organisation was founded by Dr Imran Sabri, who serves as its Patron and Global Head.

The academy is registered with the Union des Associations Internationales (UIA Org ID-AA3108) in Brussels, Belgium and with the Government of India under the Companies Act 2013.

On 26 January 2023, GLAFIMS launched its official peer-reviewed scientific journal, the International Journal of Medical Justice (IJMJ), providing a platform for research publications in forensic and allied sciences.

Governing Council

The academy is administered by a Governing Council comprising international office bearers and regional coordinators. The first council was constituted at the time of the organisation's establishment on 31 December 2021, with subsequent councils formed for later terms.

Objectives

GLAFIMS aims to uplift the status of forensic medicine, investigative medicine, and allied health sciences at national and international levels by promoting cooperation among professionals, educators, researchers, policymakers, and students. The academy works to advance scientific knowledge, professional ethics, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Conferences and Continuing Medical Education

The organisation conducts international conferences, seminars, webinars, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) and continuing professional development (CPD) programs in forensic and investigative sciences. Events such as GLAFIMSCON bring together professionals and researchers for academic exchange and training activities.

Publications

The official journal of GLAFIMS is the International Journal of Medical Justice (IJMJ), an international peer-reviewed publication covering forensic medicine, forensic toxicology, investigative medicine, and related disciplines. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case reports, and scientific communications.

Membership

GLAFIMS offers several membership categories including Full Member, Life Member, Associate Member, Affiliate Member, Fellow, and Honorary Fellow. Members benefit from access to academic events, CME programs, publications, and professional networking opportunities.
