Glenn Elliott (entrepreneur)
Glenn Elliott (born 29 September 1972) is a British entrepreneur who founded Asperity Employee Benefits, in 2007.
Early life and career
Elliott was born in South Shields, England. He moved to London in 1992 to study Computer Science at South Bank University. He worked for Schlumberger Technical Services Inc and then BT Group for almost 9 years. After leaving BT he founded two businesses that failed
N1 Creative
In 2001, he formed what was to be a successful company, N1 Digital Media, later known as N1 Creative Ltd. By 2005, the firm had grown to be the 76th largest design agency in the UK.
The firm produced several projects in the environmental sector. They won a 2006 award for an online environmental advertisement for Ben & Jerry's and an award in 2011 for Best Environmental Online advert for the European Environment Agency. The agency most notable work was the Honoloko online educational games which was launched in 2004 in 25 languages. In 2005, the project won a Gold award in the interactive entertainment category at the WorldFest film and video festival in Houston, United States, and in 2006, it won the Children’s Environmental Health Recognition 2006 Award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Honoloko was jointly funded by the European Environment Agency and the World Health Organisation
In 2005, the firm won the Small Business of the Year category at the ITV London / Evening Standard London Business Awards. Elliott sold his stake in N1 Creative and left in 2007 to form Asperity Employee Benefits.
Asperity Employee Benefits
Asperity Employee Benefits became the 2nd fastest growing technology company in the UK between 2008 and 2011 as announced in the 2011 Sunday Times Tech Track index. In 2012, the company became the 9th fastest growing technology company in Europe as announced in the GP Bullhound Media Momentum Top 50.
The company was acquired in December 2010 by Inflexion Private Equity for £25.5m, with Elliott remaining as CEO and retaining a 25% stake in the business.
Awards
Elliott was named as one of Ernst & Young's Entrepreneurs of the Year in 2010. He won a second Entrepreneur of the Year award in the 2010 Chamber Awards.
In the 2011 Best Companies UK survey, he received the 7th highest leadership approval rating in the UK.
