Glenn Dowd
Glenn Dowd is an Irish Journalist (born 7/5/1990 in Dublin). Glenn got his breakthrough writing for Warned.net but has since moved away from the topics they cover. He currently writes for the Lucan Gazette, one of three newspapers covering the West Dublin region on a weekly basis. He covers soccer matches for them within the local area. Dowd also writes for Saints News, the official matchday programme of a club he holds close to his heart, St Patricks Athletic. He has his own column titled "Player Spotlight", in which he looks back on the careers of past Saints players. Dowd will begin reporting on eircom league matches in February 2008 with extratime. ie. Dowd also freelances quite a bit and has had articles Appear in top soccer magazines including Shoot (English involvement in stadium disasters), Match (Dublin Dons) and United We Stand (Irish Reds). Dowd sees his future in the Eircom League reporting industry, and has lent a hand in Providing Information to a Belgian writer, Luc VanDenBerghe, for his upcoming book. Dowd himself plans to produce a book titled "Rich Passion", in the future and it will be a history of St Pats. Dowd also started up a petition shortly after the demise of Dublin City FC (19/7/06) to lobby the government so that a repeat of the situation would not occur. However, the hard work he did along with other key Eircom League fans, was never responded to by current sports minister, John O'Donoghue. Dowd calls it an 'expected shame'. Aside from journalism, Dowd is also known for his acting abilities. He is currently working on Rock Rivals, having played lead roles in theatre productions of Philadelphia here I come and Westside story. He played Gar Public and Baby John in the respective productions. Dowd has also appeared on the set of My Boy Jack, as well as auditioning for Garage. In his latest venture, rock rivals to be screened on utv, Dowd is a member of a boy band.
