Glathricon
Glathricon is a gaming convention that was run in Evansville, Indiana beginning in 1982. The convention promoted role playing gaming by bringing in guest game designers, adventure authors, and game masters, and ran many of the early RPGA events.
The convention in 1981-82 was initially a one-day gaming convention that was used to raise money for Contact, a science fiction convention that was run by the River City Science Fiction Association (RCSFA), but was converted into a weekend-long convention that included many of the features of Science Fiction conventions by Rembert N Parker, who also created the name. Eventually the Evansville Gaming Guild split off from the RCSFA and took over the convention.
The convention annually awarded the Joe Martin award for outstanding gaming to a gamer who participated in RPGA events and demonstrated exceptional qualities that promoted role playing gaming.
