Girl afraid
Girl Afraid is an English band involving members of English bands Here Goes Everything & [...] in black!, best known for their debut single "Five Weeks In Nebraska" and a phenomenally popular Last.fm free track "I'm Not Trigger Happy". The band have played numerous shows throughout England, gained popularity via online music sites such as Spotify, Last.fm and Myspace, and released music through indie label Spin Records.
Since releasing viral videos of acoustic performances of songs and "behind-the-scenes" footage from their studio, Girl Afraid have seen a huge rise in popularity and exposure, largely gained via websites such as Myspace Music, Facebook & Last.fm. The band's Myspace profile received well over 100,000 hits in the last few months of 2008, and an exclusive acoustic recording of the song "I'm Not Trigger Happy, I've Just Got An Itchy Finger" became a Last.fm recommended download in January 2009.
After a period of silence, the band released two brand new recordings for Myspace and Last.fm users at midnight on the 5th March 2009, with new artwork and a cryptic initial: "A.F.W.K.", which was later changed to "F.W.I.N".
A third brand new song was uploaded in May 2009; "Five Weeks In Nebraska", which was later released as a digital-only single and given away as a free download through a hidden link in a fan blog.
