Giovani Socialisti di Foggia

The Young Socialists of Foggia (Giovani Socialisti di Foggia) is a political youth organization operating in the city and province of Foggia, in the Apulia region of Italy. Affiliated with the Federazione dei Giovani Socialisti (FGS), the youth wing of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI), the organization is dedicated to fostering political engagement among young people and promoting the values of democratic socialism, social justice, and civic responsibility.

History

The history of the Young Socialists of Foggia is rooted in a long tradition of youth socialist activism in the Foggia province. The organization was formally established on 1 September 2025 during its inaugural provincial congress. This event marked the creation of the “Sandro Pertini” Unit, which became the first fully structured chapter of the federation in the region.

At the founding congress, Karim Tabti was elected as City Secretary, taking on the responsibility of coordinating all activities, guiding strategic planning, and representing the organization externally. Initially, Ranim Ayadi served as co-coordinator, later succeeded by Claudio Morlino in accordance with internal governance procedures. The chapter gained official recognition as the Sezione Territoriale ufficiale of the Giovani Socialisti in Foggia on December 2025, consolidating its legal and organizational status.

Organization

The Young Socialists of Foggia operates within the framework of the Federation of Young Socialists, which provides guidance on democratic participation, youth empowerment, and civic engagement. The chapter is organized around a City Secretary, a Governing Council, and several specialized committees that oversee communications, events, policy research, and membership development. This structure allows the organization to balance local initiatives with alignment to national priorities, ensuring both autonomy and cohesion within the broader federation.

Leadership

Leadership in the Young Socialists of Foggia is centered on the role of the City Secretary, currently held by Karim Tabti. As City Secretary, Tabti is responsible for strategic oversight, coordination of initiatives, and acting as the official representative of the chapter. Early co-leadership was provided by Ranim Ayadi, who stepped down following internal procedures and was succeeded by Claudio Morlino. This leadership structure emphasizes continuity, transparency, and collective governance in accordance with the organization's statutes.

Mission

The mission of the Young Socialists of Foggia is to encourage active citizenship among youth and foster a deeper understanding of democratic socialism and social democracy. To achieve these objectives, the chapter organizes political workshops, educational sessions, public forums, and debates that engage young people in discussion on social, political, and economic issues. In addition, it conducts cultural and civic initiatives, commemorates important historical figures, and collaborates with local institutions, schools, and voluntary organizations to strengthen community engagement.

Political orientation

The chapter's political orientation is rooted in democratic socialism, emphasizing civil liberties, social justice, and equal opportunities. Inspired by the legacy of prominent Italian socialists, particularly Sandro Pertini, the Young Socialists of Foggia advocate for democratic participation, institutional engagement, and policies that promote fairness and inclusion across society.

Local impact and recognition

Since its foundation, the Young Socialists of Foggia has established itself as a recognized voice in the local political and civic landscape. By creating opportunities for dialogue between young citizens and local authorities, fostering participation networks, and collaborating with civic associations and educational institutions, the chapter contributes significantly to the political education and civic empowerment of younger generations in Foggia.
