GIB Fringe
The GIB Fringe is a festival held once a year over a 4 day period in the Gibraltar Botanic Gardens Open Air Theater in Gibraltar. The first Fringe was held in June 2013,with a total of 9 performances and 3 free ones. The festival is open to all different sorts of performances – from dance, to pantomime, music, stand-up, to comedy and exhibitions. Free performances were held in the Gardens, ticketed events in the Theater.
It follows the idea of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The festival has one main venue - the Open Air Theater in the Botanic Gardens, it is surrounded by lush trees and has a fishpond in front of the stage.
The festival has been created by "it's 3 o'clock somewhere entertainment" and the Alameda Botanic Gardens and is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Heritage and Youth. International Artists who took part in the first Fringe were Mr. Paperman Lorenzo Torres, German pianist Mr.Tang, Steve Cousins as the Baloonatic, Eidolon from New Zealand and others. In the second edition the Mons Calpe Suite at the top of the rock is being added.
