Ghetto Rhymin' (Divine album)

Ghetto Rhymin' is the forthcoming official debut and full-length CD album from DIVINE. It will be released on the independent label Supreme Records. The pre-release version of the album officially drops worldwide online sometime in 11/07, being distributed by Perspective Music. The pre-release version of the album download will be available on iTunes, Rhapsody, etc. There will also be a physical official version of the album released to retail nationwide (USA), in the first quarter of 2008 (tentatively), and mail-ordering of the CD will be available through various online and retail outlets for those located overseas outside the US.

There will be two online single releases; the first single release will be "I'm Back" b/w "New York City NiGHTS", and the second rumored single will be "Let's Get It On" b/w "Ghetto Rhymin'". "I'm Back" will be officially released worldwide online on 7/7/07 and will be available on iTunes, Rhapsody, etc. via Perspective Music.

The Release date was pushed back several times because of trying to find the right moment to release it, however Divine has stated that a pre-release version of the album will be released initially online in 11/07, which will then be followed by a nationwide retail release of the official version of the album in the first quarter of 2008; and that Ghetto Rhymin' will be a true representation and reincarnation of the "Golden Era" of Hip-Hop updated and modernized, and is an album to watch for in 2008.

Meaning of The Title: Divine has said that "Ghetto Rhymin'" states the essence and origin of Hip-Hop itself, being from a street element and an extension of an impoverished life and living conditions. Adding the name of the artist (Divine), as in "divine ghetto rhyming", it is also a reflection of and reference to the action of a Godly and/or enlightened individual (such as Master Fard) bringing the spiritual light of Godly or divine knowledge to an impoverished (lacking) people in and through a poetical, stylistic, rhythmic and artistic form of speech/venacular (rhyming). This also most likely reflects Divine Allah's membership in and ideology of The Nation of Gods and Earths (formely the Five Percent Nation Of Islam).
