General Hmood Dawi Al-Qthami
General Hmood Dawi Al Qthami (born October 24, 1945) Full name: Hmood Ibn Dawi Ibn Hmood Ibn Solyman Ibn Tall'e Al Dahasi Al Qthami Al Otaibi from Jusham Ibn Mu'awiyah ibn Bakr Ibn Hawazin Ibn Mansur Ibn Ikrimah Ibn Khasafah Ibn Qays ʿAylān Ibn Mudar Ibn Nizar Ibn Ma'ad Ibn Adnan. General Hmood served in the Directorate of Public Security, a division of the Ministry of Interior. After his studies, he has conducted extensive research in Genealogy, Criminology, and Computers while still serving in Directorate of Public Security. He wrote multiple books in Arabic and English where he acquired much of his fame among people.
These books Include, but are not limited to: Criminal Investigations, a book that he wrote along side General Mohammed Al Hilali. This was followed by Traffic Police. He then wrote a marvel in the Genealogy of the Arab people, called North of Hejaz (1985), published by Dar Al Bayan. He also wrote A Study of the Use of Computers in Arabic Language(1987), which was published by the University of Colorado.
Early Life
During his early childhood, General Hmood lived in accordance with the nomadic culture of his forefathers. He lived in, and moved around, a desert at a close proximity to the city of Ta'if with his siblings and parents. As a child he used to herd the family cattle among other shores. When he got a little older, he moved to the city to acquire a formal education. He completed his elementary, secondary, high school in the city of Ta'if.
Education
He enrolled in King Fahd Security College in 1964. He graduated in 1967 with the rank of lieutenant in the Directorate of Public Security, a division of the Ministry of Interior. He then acquired a Bachelors of Science degree in Public Administration from King Abdul Aziz University, a Masters degree in Criminology from the University of Colorado, a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology from the University of Colorado.
Career
He was assigned numerous positions including but are not limited to:
- Investigation Officer in the Riyadh Police Department
- Chief of the Third District in the Ta'if Police Department
- Chief of the Office of Criminal investigations in the Ta'if Police Department
- Chief of Police in the Haql Police Department
- Chief of the Office of Criminal Investigations in the Jeddah Police Department
- Commissioner of Narcotics in the city of Jeddah
Later in his career, he was promoted to General, and assigned the position of Commissioner of Province Police in Ha'il Saudi Arabia. He then retired after seven years in that position.
Later Years
In 2012, General Hmood was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
