Genealogical-Heraldic Society

The Genealogical-Heraldic Society in Poznań () is a Polish genealogical and heraldic society based in Poznań, Poland.

History

Founded in 1987, the organization was founded by Rafał Tadeusz Prinke, who served as the president of the board from 1987 to 1998 and is the author of the popular handbook Poradnik Genealoga Amatora (Amateur Genealogist's Guide). The society operates on both a nationwide scale and internationally among the Polish diaspora.

Since 1998, the president of the society has been Leszek Krajkowski. The management board also includes Piotr Dziembowski and Andrzej Szymon Waliszewski.

Activities

The society brings together professional historians as well as hobbyists dedicated to discovering family lineages. It conducts research and promotional activities in the fields of broadly defined genealogy and heraldry.

Since 1990, the society has published the journal Gens. The periodical features family monographs, historical source indexes, and other studies based on the archival research of the society's members and relevant literature.
