Innovation

Gauer Metal revolutionized the manufacturing industry by developing the Safety Edger. Frustrated with the time and space it took to fabricate bar, Walter Gauer designed a machine that would customize the size of bar.

Before the invention of the Safety Edger, material for each size bar had to be kept in STOCK. Warehouses contained thousands of racks holding material. The wait for material to be cut in a mill would take several months, slowing down the entire manufacturing process. The Safety Edger brought flexibility and speed to the market. It allowed the material size to be adjusted directly on the machine. Only a minimal amount of plates were needed to be in stock rather than the thousands previously. The quality of the Gauer Bar is recognized in the industry as top notch, almost identical to True Bar.
