Gamizov
Stefan Gamizov is a 38-year-old owner of a consulting company offering services on the fields of prevention of the possibility of foul business practices such as corruption, breaching of the free inferior competition rules, providing protection from corporative and criminal pressure groups for acquisition of unregulated benefits.
Gamizov is founder of the non-governmental organization Civic League of Bulgaria. He is well-known with his rightist political points of view. These conceptions, a combination of liberal economic relations with minimal participation of the state and free Personal choice on issues such as abortions, euthanasia, and division between religion and government define him as rightist democrat (in the terms of the American political traditions, or shapes his IDeaS quite close to these of The Coalition ‘Blue Dogs’, the rightist fraction of the Democratic party in USA).
Stefan Gamizov is also well-known with his stiff views on the issue of the inter-state relations between Bulgaria and the non-democratic ruling regimes, with an extremely negative attitude towards Russian federation interests in Bulgaria, defining Russia as a dictatorship state. These conceptions make him an utter opponent of non-democratic states companies’ involvement in Bulgarian economy with the argument that they are conduits of non-democratic practices into Bulgarian society.
1 During the official reception of the George Bush in Sofia’s downtown square "Alexander Nevski" Gamizov directed a keen critical warning to the US president, saying that the free people of Bulgaria will be watching carefully if the leader of the free world is going to shake "bloody hands". The metaphoric figure of speech was addressed to the hands of the local politicians who have communist origin.
It is considered that in this connection then Bulgaria’s National Security Service Chief Ivan Drashkov has launched in the aftermath of this event a covert operation due to President Georgi Parvanov’s instruction for fabricating the so-called ‘fake file’. The operation goal was to discredit Gamizov in the eyes of the western world old democracies, but the ultimate purpose was to prepare his elimination from the public stage by assassination or destroying his business activities.
It also considered that the execution of the plan was assigned to the so-called ‘Bankya circle’, which includes influential figures such as the boss of Bulgaria’s amphetamine mafia Chavdar Chernev, his associate from the local energy monopoly mafia Bogomil Manchev, and underground figures close to Sofia mayor Boiko Borisov. The conspiracy itself has been averted accidentally after one of the hitmen rejected the order and reported details about the plan to a newly founded national security service called State Agency for National Security (SANS), which was out of the President’s hands in these days.
It might be assumed that the leak about Ivan Drashkov’s role in this operation contributed to his following dismissal. The information that Drashkov has been ordered by Manchev and Chernev to observe closely Gamizov’s activities led to an internal investigation that concluded that the former security chief had been misleading systematically with fake information Bulgaria’s partners from NATO countries’ security services. The purpose was to discredit and eliminate people in conflict with Russia’s interests in Bulgaria.
Ivan Drashkov is considered as one of the Russian FSB (former KGB) most precious assets in the process of infiltrating NATO’s structures. It is also assumed that President Parvanov’s constant attacks against (SANS) are due to Drashkov’s dismissal.
Stefan Gamizov created the first ever energy project in Bulgaria without Russia’s technical or lobbyist participation. It concerns the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the old TPP Maritza Iztok 2. As a result a keen conflict has disrupted between Gamizov and the head of the Bulgaria’s energy mafia Bogomil Manchev. The latter misused his corruptive control over the then energy minister Milko Kovachev to make a scheme for the destruction of the project via an illegal and unnecessary consultant, established under the cover of a joint venture with an American company.
For the above mentioned Manchev received 19 mln euros. Eventually, Gamizov and his business partners managed to stand firm and Manchev lost the battle. This might be one of the reasons for the plan for Gamizov’s assassination, because the energy mafia found out that he’s a bigger problem than it had been expected before.
Gamizov is warmly welcomed in Brussels, but not such warmly in Washington. It is considered that the last is due to the productive job done by the Russian security services and Ivan Drashkov in particular in Bulgaria, aiming Gamizov’s discredit. All these steps came as obstacles of Gamizov’s activities. But they did not contribute in general terms to his potential ultimate success, because sources of support to his activities have been influential corporations in Europe, Japan, and USA. They tenaciously support him, because of their business interests, which he managed to put through without using methods of corruption, so typical and widespread in Bulgaria. These Gamizov’s activities have made an unpublicized name of him as a generator of a new (for his home country) type of investment projects’ management.
The above mentioned data reflects a small part of Stefan Gamizov and his associates’ activities. Amongst them he’s considered as an almost religious type of leader. And they believe that he’s called upon to bring Bulgarian nation out in less troubled water then today.
At the moment, in April 2009, Gamizov’s support amongst the Bulgarian citizens is around 7 %. Stefan Gamizov is a religious person (orthodox Christian) and according to his followers he’s conducting a modest way of living, without any squander. It is considered that he invests most of his profits into the cause he follows and which he calls himself ‘Bulgarian Reformation’. He adores Levski, Martin Luther King, and the fathers of the American Revolution. He often says that if someone would like to unriddle him must watch the movie ‘The Patriot’. It is well-known that the first book he ever read to his son is ‘History of the American people’ 2. Gamizov say that the Freedom is a cause worth of paying any price for.
