Gallifrey: Disassembled

Gallifrey: Disassembled is a Big Finish Productions audio drama based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. The series is set on the Doctor's home planet of Gallifrey.

Plot

Still in search of answers to their problems, Romana, Leela, K9 and Narvin visit another alternate Gallifrey, while Braxiatel remains in the Axis, monitoring the drifting portal. This world is ruled by Time Lords who are wrathful and ruthless, erasing people and even whole worlds at whim. When their President Romana learns she has a double in her midst, she demands her execution. Even Leela is subjected to the cruel tactics of Interrogator General Leela. Just being in this universe instigates several problematic paradoxes. Their hopes are raised when they discover the Doctor. This version of the Doctor (resembling his sixth incarnation) also escaped in a TARDIS, but when the Time Lords captured him, he stayed on Gallifrey. He returns with Romana to the Axis and gets into an altercation with Braxiatel. Both of them are flung into the vortex between realities.

Continuity

  • The Temporal Intervention Agency is an alternate version of The Celestial Intervention Agency, which Narvin headed in The Primary timeline.
  • In this reality, facts and even people change as the Time Lords alter reality to suit their needs. Their historical triumvirate are Rassilon, Omega and Zagreus. In established continuity, the Other is the third figure. Zagreus was created in the 2003 audio of the same name. Both Zagreus and the Other are, in a way, the Doctor.
  • Romana met the real Sixth Doctor in The Apocalypse Element.
  • It is implied that Braxiatel and the Doctor are related, which has been suggested in previous stories, such as Tears of the Oracle.
  • Braxiatel further implies that he was once ordered by the President of the High Council to [...] the Doctor, purely as a show of loyalty. Instead, he murdered the President and warned the Doctor, who fled from Gallifrey with his granddaughter.
  • At the end of this audio, Braxiatel leaves the Gallifrey series and begins his adventures with Professor Bernice Summerfield. He meets her for the first time, but she already knows him well. She first met him in the Seventh Doctor novel, Theatre of War.
