Gabriel O'Meara
Gabriel O'Meara (born March 13, 1947) is the founder and CEO of Translators, Inc., guitarist, songwriter and record producer. He began his MusicAL career as lead guitarist for the Brazilian rock band O Peso before moving into record producing. In 1991, O'Meara founded Translators, Inc., a full-service foreign language solutions company. O'Meara is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese and has a working knowledge of Italian.
Music career
O Peso
O'Meara performed lead guitar for lBrazilian rock band O Peso (Banda O Peso) from 1975 to 1985 with fellow band mates Luís Carlos Porto (vocals), Constant Papineau (piano), Carlos Scart (bass), and Carlos Garça (drums). O Peso was formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1975 and released their debut album Em busca do tempo perdido. They produced such hits as "Sou louco por você", "Em busca do tempo perdido" and "Não fique triste".
Music producer
From 1985 to 1990, O'Meara specialized in Brazilian samba. There he wrote and produced over fifteen hit songs, one of which was nominated for the Brazilian equivalent of a Grammy.
Translators, Inc.
O'Meara founded AAA Translators, now known as Translators, Inc. in 1991. Shortly thereafter, Bobby Lahiere joined the firm. Under their leadership, Translators, Inc. has had a steady and solid growth pattern.
Personal life
O'Meara is a marketing consultant for AutoZone; he translates and voices the Spanish-language commercials. In 1999, O'Meara was awarded for Small Business Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Among his other commendations are: The key to the City of Memphis, Tennessee, awarded by Mayor Bill Morris for outstanding services to the business community. Gabe O'Meara is also a charter member and founder of the HBA (Hispanic Business Alliance) which is a constituent of the National Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
