History
Futsal in Skofja Loka
In the early 1980s, the boys from village Sveti Duh (near Skofja Loka) and the surrounding area became interested in futsal. They were gathering in front of a village shop in the evenings and discovering the charms of this increasingly popular sport. They have slowly formed a team that started to attend various tournaments and achieved notable results. Due to recognition, they have decided to name the team after cartoon series Stripy.
The establishment of club
In 1987, the club was officially registered. After several successful performances, their ambitions grew and they started to attend tournaments outside Gorenjska region. Tournaments in Ljubljana were stronger and of better quality, they learned many things, particularly tactical game ideas. They didn't gave up despite defeats at the beginning (known Gorenjska persistence) and after one year they were just below the top places also at tournaments in Ljubljana.
In 1993, through the first regional qualification, they qualified for the national championship in Kodeljevo in Ljubljana, where they won an impressive fourth place among the eight teams. In the unforgettable semifinal meeting they were stopped by at that time "untouchable" players of Ljubljana team Vuko (later the national champions), but only after the penalty shootout, which was a big surprise even for futsal experts in the capital.
In the next two seasons, 1994 and 1995, they participated in the national championship and won the 5th and 4th place. At the championship in Ljutomer they also came to the semifinals and lost after penalty shootout in apparently obtained match. Only with a bit of luck in both of these years they could climb up to the podium, maybe even to the top.
Golden times for futsal in Skofja Loka
In 1995/96, the championship became a league contest of the top ten teams in Slovenia. This was the most successful season in club history - they won the third place. At the derby match between Stripy and Vuko Ljubljana (final score 1:3 for Vuko) Poden hall in Škofja Loka was literally bursting at the seams.
Black season
The following season 1996/97 did not finish as planned, and the club was relegated from the first league. The club worked on a voluntary basis, older players were already a bit saturated with competitions and travels, and they were not followed by younger players.
The consequences were thus inevitable − they have decided not to play in the second Slovenian futsal league, but rather only in recreational leagues and at tournaments.
Re-registration
The club was re-registered 7 February 2007.
