Fred Smith (football)

Fred Smith is a high school football wide receiver on the Detroit Public School League. He is 6'2" and weighs 215 lbs. He has been heavily recruited and has been offered scholarships from University of Michigan, Michigan State, University of Toledo and Bowling Green. Smith chose MSU after receiving the promise that he would also be allowed to play basketball.

Smith started playing football in 2005. Prior to that, he played basketball. He was recruited by a coach who recognized how he mauled people on the court to be more conducive to football

In his Sophomore year, Smith scored over 600 yards, and in his Junior year, Smith scored eight touchdown, had seven interceptions, and over 600 yards.

Smith is touted as being deceptively fast for his size.

Smith graduates in 2008 and is one of the nation's top-ranked receiver recruits in the class of 2008. Smith was ranked as the number four recruit in Michigan. He attended the NIKE Training Camp in State College in Pensylvnia.
