Fred Annett
Fred Marshall Annett (Born August 10, 1961) is an American political figure and retired US Army soldier. He is best known for seeking the US Congressional seat, Texas, District 4, during the 2008 elections. He ran as a Libertarian Party candidate and received 2% of the vote in his first attempt at seeking any political office. He has recently announced that he will seek election for the same Congressional seat in 2010, running again as a Libertarian.
Biography
Annett was born in Dallas, TX, USA, the son of Larry Gene Annett, a retail merchant and Sandra Lee (née' Puckett) Annett, a homemaker and financial advisor. Annett's parents divorced when he was 8 years old. He has a half-sister and a half-brother. Annett's father retained custody of him during the divorce. Annett's father was an alcoholic and abused him physically and mentally for much of his childhood. When he was 12, he was sexually abused by his father and stepmother, Juanita (née' Wilkerson).
Annett attended Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, TX, but dropped out of school during his senior year to join the military. Annett has stated that the move was done to get away from his father. He was temporarily retired due to disability from the US Army in October 2005 in the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC) and was permanently retired due to disability in 2009 in the same rank.
Personal life
Annett married Marcy Carpenter in 1986. The couple divorced in 1998. He has 2 children from that marriage, a son Nolan Ryan Annett and a daughter Katherine Marceal Annett, both to which he has remained very close. His son, Nolan is currently serving in Iraq with the US Army as an infantryman in the rank of Specialist (SPC). He currently resides in Paris, TX.
