Fraser Thurlow

Fraser Thurlow (born 6 January 1993) is an Australian rules footballer who was listed with the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League.

Early life

Thurlow was born and raised on the Gold Coast and attended A. B. Paterson College. Although Thurlow has played football since 5 years of age, he tried his hand at several sports through his adolescences and was selected for representative teams in athletics, cricket, cross country and swimming.

Junior football

Thurlow began playing his junior football at the Southport Australian Football Club at 5 years of age. He progressed his way through the junior ranks at Southport before making his debut for the senior team. In 2011 he was chosen to represent Queensland in the AFL National Under 18 Championships where he was voted the 'Most Valuable Player' on the Queensland team. He was considered a good chance to get drafted to an AFL list in 2012 after a solid season in the NEAFL but was overlooked.

Thurlow made the decision to switch from Southport to Labrador at the beginning of the 2013 in the hope of bettering his chances of getting drafted. His move would pay off as he was voted best on ground in a representative game against the SANFL under-22 team and was invited to attend the 2013 AFL Combine in October. He was once again overlooked in the 2013 AFL Draft but was selected by Essendon in the rookie draft in December.

AFL career

Thurlow is yet to make his senior debut for Essendon.

Thurlow was delisted at the conclusion of the 2014 AFL season.
