Francisco Tavares
Francisco Tavares is a rugby union strength and conditioning coach with Glasgow Warriors.
Rugby Union career
Coaching career
After being a personal trainer for the fitness club Holmes Place from 2009 to 2011, Tavares moved to be a strength and conditioning coach in rugby union.
He was given the job of Asst. Strength and Conditioning coach at the Portuguese Rugby Federation. He remained there until 2013.
He was offered a One Month intern at Leinster Rugby as a Strength and Conditioning coach in October 2013.
Moving back to Portugal, he became the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Cascais Rugby Linha.
In 2015 he moved to New Zealand to be the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Chiefs.
In 2016 he became Head of Strength and Conditioning for Portuguese Rugby Federation.
He started as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Glasgow Warriors in June 2017.
Academic career
He has written and co-written many publications on the biological principles and methods of strength training.
He became an invited lecturer on Master Degree in Strength and Conditioning for the University of Lisbon's Faculty of Human Kinetics in 2015.
