Flawsome (company)
Flawsome is an Indian menstrual hygiene company operated by XLeap Care Private Limited. The company sells menstrual hygiene products including sanitary pads, pantyliners and disposable period underwear. It has developed and launched a biodegradable and flushable sanitary pad intended to address the disposal of used menstrual products.
History
Flawsome was founded by Ranu Khade. Khade studied engineering at the College of Engineering, Pune and business administration at The INDIAN Institute of Management Bangalore. Before founding Flawsome, she worked at Procter & Gamble, Snapdeal, the Max Group of Hospitals and Shiprocket.
According to Khade, research into menstrual hygiene management conducted before the establishment of Flawsome identified disposal of used menstrual products as a significant problem. The company subsequently focused on developing a menstrual pad that could be disposed of through flushing and biodegradation.
Khade and Narula initially developed prototypes by assembling different pad materials and testing their behaviour in water and drainage systems. The company later worked with the Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) in Ghaziabad on the development of the product.
The prototype of the company's flushable sanitary pad was completed in March 2025. Flawsome subsequently began selling other menstrual hygiene products while finalizing the development of the flushable product, which is now commercially available.
By 2026, Flawsome products were being sold through online marketplaces and retail channels in India. The company was also developing standards for flushable menstrual products in cooperation with organisations involved in textile research and standards development.
Products
Flawsome's commercial product range includes sanitary pads, pantyliners and disposable period underwear.
The company's sanitary pads include plant-based and organic cotton products. Its pantyliners are sold in plant-based and organic cotton variants. The company also sells disposable period underwear.
Flawsome products are listed by major Indian retail platforms and online marketplaces. Product listings identify XLeap Care Private Limited as the manufacturer or seller.
Flushable sanitary pad
Flawsome's principal research and development project has resulted in a biodegradable and flushable sanitary pad. The company developed the product to address the disposal of used menstrual products and has described it as being designed for use with different types of toilet and drainage systems.
The pad is designed to disintegrate after flushing and to biodegrade within 28 days if disposed of without flushing.
The development of the product has involved the use of plant-based materials and research into the behaviour of absorbent materials in water and sewage systems. A 2025 research paper by Ranu Khade, Nidhi Sisodia and Arindam Basu described the development of a biodegradable and flushable sanitary napkin using natural fibres.
The company has described the product as India's first fully flushable sanitary pad. Following its research and development phase, the product was made commercially available, with this milestone being noted by Indian media.
Standards and research
The development of the flushable pad has involved research and testing with the Northern India Textile Research Association. Flawsome also worked on a proposed standard for flushable menstrual products because India did not have a specific standard governing such products at the time of the company's development work.
The company based its proposed approach partly on existing guidelines for flushable products and sought to adapt them to Indian plumbing and sewage conditions. The proposed framework was submitted to the Bureau of Indian Standards for consideration.
The 2025 research paper associated with Flawsome and NITRA described the use of natural fibres and biodegradable materials in the development of the sanitary napkin.
Commercial development
Prior to the launch of the flushable pad, Flawsome introduced other menstrual hygiene products to the market. In March 2026 these products were available through more than 11 marketplaces and in selected offline locations.
Retail listings in 2026 show Flawsome sanitary pads, pantyliners and disposable period underwear being sold through platforms including Myntra, Tata 1 mg and JioMart.
Initially described by media reports in early 2026 as being in development, the flushable sanitary pad was subsequently launched for commercial sale.
Funding and support
Flawsome received a grant of 50 lakh from the Ministry of Textiles for research and development related to its product development.
The company has also participated in entrepreneurship and innovation programmes. In 2026, XLeap Care Private Limited, operating under the Flawsome brand, was included in the Stanford Seed Spark 12 South Asia programme, where Ranu Khade was listed as the entrepreneur and XLeap Care Private Limited as the venture.
Recognition
Ranu Khade was listed among the TiE Women 2025 finalists representing TiE Delhi NCR.
Khade was also listed as a recipient of the Best Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year award in the 2025 Top 30 Inspiring Women Awards.
