Flashing firmware

Flashing the firmware on mobile phones is a common practice which unlocks the phone to any network, allows you to modify the settings such as the appearance of your menus, text message capacity, and speaker sound. It also fixes problems such as the White screen of death.

Flash files and information on what programs to use can be found widely on the internet.

Although it seems like a good idea, it can be fatal for your phone and is seriously unadviseable to anybody considering doing it as many of the ways are by means of hacking into your phone's system by brute force. This can go wrong in any number of ways, especially if the process is interrupted half way through.

If you have a problem with your phone it is best to return it to the manufacturer rather than attempt to fix it yourself through flashing. If your need is cosmetic, you should purchase a new phone rather than flashing, as if your flashing goes wrong (which it probably will) you will need a new one anyway!!
