Flash Bang Band

Flash Bang Band is a three-piece indie rock band based in Brighton. They have also previously dubbed themselves as 'Wonky-pop'

Overview

After starting in 2008 the band self-recorded an EP titled 'Random Acts of Kindness' which was only available in physical form at shows. The EP received a positive review from Artrocker before one of the tracks 'Little Lost Lamb' was featured as download of the week in The Argus

The band once again underwent lineup changes before playing a number of smaller festivals around the UK, they began work with producer Dave Lynch (Yaaks, Duke Special, Iain Archer, Toploader) on 5 tracks, with a view to releasing them on a single-by single basis. A distribution deal was provided by Thestate51conspiracy.

After recording throughout January 2011, Flash Bang Band organised and staged a sold-out gig on a bus provided by the Brighton & Hove (bus company). A second Brighton band, The Beautiful Word played on the top deck, with Flash Bang Band on the bottom deck as the bus drove around the city. A film crew from SHOUT! TV was on board. The band donated the proceeds to a local hospice.

After support slots with The Phoenix Foundation, Cloud Control, The Lovely Eggs, Flashguns and Bearsuit, they held a 'Robot and animal imitation' single launch party in July 2011 to announce the release of their debut double a-side single 'Cupid/If You Can't Be Calm' on the band's own 'Imitation Records' label. Former Clor frontman Barry Dobbin's new project Barringtone and Nordic Giants provided support. In the build-up to the gig they were invited into BBC South to record a live-on-air 4-track radio session.

In November 2011 they supported Dananananaykroyd during their farewell tour. A video made frame-by-frame in photoshop for the single 'Cupid' was released in October 2011.
